Numerical study of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and its effect on synthetic emission from magnetized jets

Non-thermal emission from Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) jets extends up-to large scales in-spite of them being prone to a slew magneto-hydrodynamic instabilities. The main focus this study is understand the impact MHD instabilities on non-thermal large-scale AGN jets. We perform high-resolution three-dimensional numerical simulations plasma column investigate dynamical and properties jet configurations at kilo-parsec with different magnetic field profiles, speeds, density contrast. also obtain synthetic signatures for viewing angles using an approach that assumes static particle spectra obtained by evolving Lagrangian macro-particles incorporating effects shock acceleration radiative losses. find shocks due Kelvin-Helmholtz (KH) instability in axial can strongly affect dynamics. Additionally, we presence weak biconical under-dense columns. inclusion helical hinders vortex growth shear surface thereby stabilizing column. With approach, SEDs cases strong KH show multiple humps ranging radio TeV gamma-ray band. conclude high-energy electrons accelerated vicinity freshly formed instability, result high X-ray emission.
